My Students

Do you ever read a book and have no idea what you read? My students face this problem each and every day. Help my students to comprehend!

I teach reading to second and third grade students in a high need, Title I school.

Our school district is located in an urban area that has a high rate of poverty. The population of our school is racially diverse and has several Latino students who are just now learning to speak English. I am a full inclusion reading teacher; therefore, I support the classroom teacher by working with small groups within the regular education classroom.

My Project

Reading is the most important skill a child can acquire. Reading comprehension is developed by exposure to literature and by practicing various comprehension strategies and skills. My students have low reading comprehension skills and need hands-on materials that focus on finding the main idea, inferencing, summarizing, cause and effect, fact and opinion, and drawing conclusions.

With your generous support, you will help my students become better readers by improving their comprehension with interactive comprehension activities.
