Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine driving to five local school supply stores to try and catch all those summer sales! That's what I do every summer to get composition notebooks for my students because they cannot afford to get them for themselves.
My students are some of the most amazing, talented, hard working kids I have ever had the honor of teaching.
Chemistry is challenging for them because many of them have never taken a lab science class before. However, I am pushing them for greatness. The best part about my class (according to my students) are the laboratory activities. But, to practice being real scientists they need to have the proper materials.
My Project
Providing each student with a lab notebook will allow them to record their hypotheses, data, procedures and graph results from our various lab activities. By having graph paper in their books, students will be able to easily graph their results and calculate from their graphs.
My students come from an area of high poverty and are not able to easily purchase basic supplies to be successful in my lab science class.
Their experience in my class will help them not only be successful in high school but will help them prepare for success at the college level! Thank you for your consideration.
