Compose Music on Electric Piano Keyboards!

Help me give my students 10 Casio electric piano keyboards to help them express themselves through contemporary musical experiences.

My beautiful and talented students are African American and Latinx primarily.

We are in a Title 1 school located in the heart of Los Angeles. My student's have experienced many challenges and hardships in their young lives due, to no fault of their own, not only the impact of Covid, but also many other layered adverse conditions that have disrupted their learning, and emotional well being. However, they are seekers of knowledge and musical creators full of resilience and strength just waiting for creative opportunities. For this music project, we seek 10 small individual electric piano keyboards/(drums are included) for an adventure in learning and composing music. This is a standards based music program with an emphasis on modern band and Hip Hop pedagogy. Students would be co creators of curriculum and have an opportunity to express themselves through music.

My Project

Aligning music learning to modern band and contemporary music that connects and uplifts racial and cultural representation will keep students highly engaged. Students will see themselves in the repertoire used. They will meet the California music standards while having their voices and identities raised up.

Please consider helping my students have the tools to express themselves musically.

Keyboards that come with drums in it make it such a rich, fun and completely contemporary experience to learn the piano keyboard and music fundamentals with. Lessons will include being able to compose,improvise, sing and rap along to their own accompaniment. Music is inside all of us and we just need opportunities to be able to express it.
