Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our goal is to get the books for the 4th-6th and 7th-8th grade bands to have everyone who wants to vote in our 6th-8th school. We also want to encourage others to read as well through peer sharing. The Connecticut Nutmeg Book Awards started as a grade 4th-6th reading project, and has branched to grades 2-12. This project focuses on the 6th-8th grade band. Each grade band has 10 titles that students vote on. Which means the Nutmeg award is student driven!
Having students read and then be able to vote on the 10 relevant titles in May starts early in the school year!
I'm looking to add the titles in multiple copies so that students can check out books and be able to vote on them in May.
