This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Through activities like creating the kindness tree, students will engage in perspective-taking exercises where they imagine the feelings and experiences of others. Discussing kindness messages fosters empathy and broadens their understanding of diverse perspectives.
By actively participating in kindness initiatives and reflecting on the impact of their actions, students develop a sense of responsibility to care for each other.
They learn that even small acts of kindness can make a significant difference in someone's life.
Success in understanding compassion will be gauged through students' contributions to the kindness tree, their involvement in acts of kindness, and their ability to empathize with others' struggles and joys.
The requested supplies, such as bulletin board tiles for the kindness tree and headphones/power strip for Nearpod lessons, enable interactive and collaborative learning experiences. These resources facilitate engagement with kindness lessons and promote a supportive classroom environment.
My goal for this project is to foster a culture of compassion and empathy in the classroom, where students feel empowered to make positive contributions to their community. My students are special because of their innate kindness, curiosity, and willingness to embrace diverse perspectives. They possess the potential to create a more compassionate world, one act of kindness at a time.
