My Project
We are creating bags for students who lack basic essentials. These bags will be put together by students after a guided classroom discussions about basic needs. Utilizing our Mindful Conversation Cards, students will discuss how life may feel for people in varying circumstances. Students can then draw conclusions about how we can best support the needs of others.
Students will work towards alleviating the suffering of others by offering discrete care bags to their peers through the school counselor.
They can survey students' needs using a Google Form and put together anonymous care bags based on student responses. Included in these bags, students can write personal encouraging cards, include positive stickers, or color a picture as a personal gesture to remind students that there is a human that cares about them.
We will measure the success of this project and our students by having them create a follow up survey that will be completed anonymously by students. This survey will measure the helpfulness of the care bags, as well as whether these bags impacted them emotionally or just physically. Additionally the survey will include self reflection questions for students that participated that will measure the impact this project has had on them and their ability to think of others compassionately.
