Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My fifth graders are full of energy, curiosity, and heart—and I want to channel those qualities into a project that teaches compassion and community care. With your support, we’ll create “Compassion Kits” for people in need.
Students will assemble thoughtful care packages that include handwritten notes, hygiene items, and a small craft they will create themselves.
To make this happen, we need supplies like gallon ziplock bags and travel-size toiletries. Through this project, students will not only practice teamwork, empathy, and gratitude—they’ll also see that they can make a real impact.
My students will learn to see the world through the eyes of a homeless person. They will learn compassion by making these kits and giving them.
I will measure students’ success in learning about compassion by asking them to define the word.
This is more than a classroom activity; it’s a lesson in kindness they’ll carry for life. Thank you for helping us turn compassion into action!
