Help me give my students the resources needed to help them understand and display the importance of kindness, respect, and compassion.

My Project
Compassion is one of the most powerful things in our world. Compassion is one thing we can never have too much of; and the one thing we should never go without. I have seen a decline in compassion among our youth because the foundation of it isn’t practiced. There aren’t too many people stressing its importance in our homes, schools, and communities. And those that can teach, don’t always have the materials, tools, or supplies to help cement the concept of compassion.
The students I teach are visual and kinesthetic learners.
With materials such as crayons, markers, pencils, and coloring pencils, my students will be able to create crafts and experience hands-on activities that will allow them to share their understanding of compassion with others inside and outside of the classroom. Hand-made crafts for nursing home veterans, especially during holidays, would be a way for students to display compassion for others who aren't fortunate to have families to visit them. Heartfelt sentiments for veterans would be another way students can show compassion and appreciation for those who've fought to give us our freedoms.
My students and MCES will also see how random acts of kindness affect others around them. I intend to measure their understanding and progress by working with my colleagues and counselor to incorporate compassion throughout the school. This way we can continue to keep the fire of compassion burning.
I know firsthand how compassion, even just a little of it, can change a person’s outlook on life and their environment. It can affect and influence others, one at a time, day by day. We have the power to choose what we want to spread in our lives, whether good or bad. Like a cold, compassion is contagious. Let’s spread that around.
