I’m setting up a corner in my classroom I’m calling the compassion corner. This will be an area in my classroom where students can write notes, draw pictures, etc to show kindness to students and teachers.
Students will learn about compassion by seeing what others are going through, and writing a note to encourage or help them.
At the beginning of the year, I’m going to teach about compassion by showing students examples (another teacher had a rough day, so I'm going to write a card to cheer them up). After seeing others suffer, or struggle, students will be able to write a note of encouragement, or helpful tools/hints. I will measure success by watching students use this center on their own and watching those struggling smile.
The supplies from this project will help the students learn to show compassion to others. Using these different products, students will be able to write, draw, and show kindness through letters to others.
I want my students to be able to see when others are being kind or do something nice for them, and have them write an appreciation note. Students will also be able to write encouraging notes to classmates or teachers when they see they need them!
