I am so excited to kick off reading Lord of the Flies with my English 1 Honors class this next grading cycle. However, I am even more excited to be able to offer an independent novel that I can use as a companion novel.
I know that The Hunger Games will be an incredible book to compare and contrast all elements we are covering in Lord of the Flies.
Such as, characterization, motif, conflict, plot development, etc...
I believe that The Hunger Games will be an amazing addition to my classroom that will hook my students from the first page. We all know the importance of reading, but it is so hard to compete against the advance technology. The Hunger Games will be just the book that I can assign as an independent reading novel that I know will have my students' attention...they will not even realize it is an assignment!
