Community Spring Egg Hunt Supplies

Help me give my students plastic eggs and fillers for the 2nd annual community spring egg hunt sponsored by GHS Student Council.

My Students

I challenge you to find students as dedicated as the ones at my high school. I co-advise my building's student council, made up of a core group of volunteers in grades 9-12 who want to make a difference in our school building and in the district. Our major responsibility is organizing our yearly homecoming events like field day, the pep rally, and the community parade. But that was not enough of a challenge for these students.

Members of our school's student council want to do more for our school and our community.

Two years ago we took over the duty of hosting two annual blood drives, and we started a formal wear closet for students in need of gowns or suits for school dances like junior prom and senior ball. Still, they were looking to do more for our school and community.

My Project

My students' desire to give back to the community resulted in a free event last March - a spring egg hunt. Children and their families were invited to an afternoon of crafts, concessions, photos with the Easter Bunny, an egg hunt, and more. We filled hundreds of eggs with candy, bendable animals, bracelets, bouncy balls, and stickers. My favorite part of the afternoon was watching the kids chase their bouncy balls around the gym after the egg hunt ended. I will never forget the joy on their faces.

We plan to host our 2nd annual spring egg hunt in March 2020.

In order to make this free community event a reality, we need plastic eggs and small toys to fill them. Please consider helping us to make the free community spring egg hunt an annual tradition for our students and their families.
