Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are creative, kind and giving. They are looking for ways to give back to the community by using their skills, creativity and interests.
My 6th grade students are very interested in learning about the world around them, they are aware of the difficulties that their community face and are willing to do their part in helping others in their community.
They also need a creative outlet that allows them to express themselves and learn more about themselves and their unique abilities and skills.
My Project
My project will take form of an after school club where students will get the opportunity to make a difference in their community through their interests, skills and community service project ideas.
The Community Service Art Club provides students with a creative outlet and establishes a mindset of civic engagement.
Students will get the chance to brainstorm ideas on how to help their community, for example: creation of a community map with all the resources available to the community. The final project will showcase all student created work in a website, including all the community focused drawings, paintings, and photographs.
