This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As Title I students, our community face daily food, hygiene, and financial insecurity. At GES we are striving to teach and empower students to use healthy outlets and tools in regulating their emotions and overcoming their challenges. Painting and fidgets are shown to help calm our regulatory system, and in providing these for home, our staff hopes to create healthy habits both in and out of school.

Additionally, over the years, we have learned our students lack general knowledge of personal hygiene and are in dire need of hygiene products.

In the Spring and Summer months, our staff begin to open classroom windows, as the odors become overwhelming. As such, our staff would like to incorporate a lesson on hygiene practices and provide our students with the necessary supplies this Spring. These ziplock bags will be used to create individual hygiene kits supplied to each fourth and fifth grade student, while the storage bins will help us store and manage donations for this project, as well as ongoing clothing donations we receive for students and families.
