This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
"Be the change you wish to see in this world." -Gandhi In my career I have striven to be that change. I would like to see a world where all children have access to the materials they need to be successful in school.
My school is a Title I school in Miami-Dade County.
My students are lower-middle class students who do not all have access to the materials they need to maximize their potential in school. While most of them do not struggle for food or clothes, many of them do not have access to reliable technology at home. This proposal is part of an initiative of mine to provide these students access to technology. This particular request is refresh of a previous project that funded printer that students can use to print out projects, reports, and other school related documents. I am proposing now to receive ink for the printer so that I can continue to offer the print station to my students and their families.
My Project
Students and their families will have access to the printer before and after school and will be allowed to print school work free of charge. As part of this grant I have requested multiple toner cartridges so that I can support this project long term. This equipment will allow students to complete school work and print it in my classroom. Currently I have students that request printer access from me daily, but recently I have been unable to help because the student print stations do not have toner. This project would benefit all of my students that do not have the ability to print work from home.
This project makes a difference because it helps level the playing field for all the students at my school.
No one should lose credit for an assignment they completed because they don't have a printer (or money to buy ink for their printer). I believe this printer will have a positive impact on my classroom and the school community as a whole.
