Our school district spans five rural communities in the Eastern delta region of Arkansas. The area is large, and many students must ride the bus for long periods of time just to get to school. They depend on the school for transportation, food programs, and exposure to all things educational. We are a diverse population brought together for the purpose of learning.
With such diverse economic and cultural backgrounds coming together, our district strives to meet each student where they are and equip them for learning and progressing to the next level.
My Project
My students love piano keyboards! The problem is we don't have enough of them to allow the community of students to have access at the same time.
My students learn musical concepts, but they always ask and plead to play the keyboards.
Just three more keyboards would give my community of students the "keys" they need to be able to unlock learning on the keyboards as a class rather than having to rotate a few kids at a time.
The keyboard is critical to foundational music learning and expressing yourself. It's easy to learn and is very appealing for these young learners.
