My Project

My TK students are curious, enthusiastic, and love to learn through play. This project will provide them with engaging nonfiction books and realistic dress-up items to explore the roles of community helpers. These materials will support vocabulary development and build background knowledge through meaningful, real-world connections. As we read about doctors, construction workers, firefighters, postal carriers, and more, students will expand their understanding of how each person contributes to our community—and how they can too.

This project will also help us celebrate diversity, equity, and inclusion by showing that helpers come from all backgrounds and experiences.

The nonfiction texts will expose students to a wide range of individuals and stories, helping them see themselves and others in these important roles. The dress-up items will invite children to role-play and imagine themselves as capable, valued members of their community. My goal is to nurture empathy, spark curiosity, and support language development—all through joyful, purposeful play. My students are at the beginning of their school journey, and they deserve learning experiences that are as dynamic, imaginative, and inspiring as they are.
