Help me give my students a classroom carpet to provide a flexible seating space to support them in collaborative learning and to create a welcoming space to come each day.

My Students
I am lucky to have 29 students who reside on the Southside of Chicago. My third graders have filled our classroom with kindness, curiosity, and a love for learning. Being back in the classroom after almost 2 years of virtual learning, my students have continued to amaze me with their passion and excitement to learn each day. Our days are full of laughter, growing little brains, and making meaningful connections. My students come daily with a growth mindset, ready to take on new challenges.
As the year continues, we are working to strengthen our classroom community through our SEL work.
My students are 29 charismatic, empathetic scholars that put their best foot forward each and every day.
My Project
My students need a classroom carpet, or more commonly known as a comfortable, flexible meeting and learning place to continue to encourage learning and collaboration. Our classroom carpet will also provide us with additional flexible seating options for the diverse learners present in our classroom. By providing a carpet that is able to fit all 30 students, it will help to advance their learning and increase engagement. Having students close to the board fosters stronger conversations which lead to better engagement.
In addition, a carpet allows for students to come together to build community.
Rather than all students sitting spread apart at desks and tables, it helps to develop a space where strong community and connections can be formed. Students must come to school feeling that their classroom is safe, comfortable, and a place that will foster their learning.
This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
