My Project
Read-Alouds are a magical way for students to listen to a fluent reader and learn morals of stories that help them in real life. They are used as tools to promote discussions such as inclusion and respect in a kid-friendly way. For example, I've used the digital version of the "Have you Filled a Bucket Today?" book to teach students about building each other up and how little by little you can empty someone's bucket with negative comments. These read-alouds also teach the students to embrace differences and lead with kindness.
Listening to an adult read, helps students learn when to pause at commas, periods, and show inflection in their voice with exclamation points!
It's also a great way to teach about print concepts such as cover page, spine, author, illustrator, etc. My hope is that through these read-alouds, the students will show more kindness and compassion to each other and carry that with them in years to come.
