Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

After doing a study about Beginning The Year, my student brought up the condition of our community. One student said "I saw a lot, lots of trash", After brainstorming, my students came up with the idea of cleaning our community.

Our students also shared about the different skills that their parents possess and they would like to include their families in keeping our community clean.

Having families and school staff involved in the process, would not only allow our students to have a cleaner and safer place to be but would give a sense of ownership which in turn would have a longer effect. "My dad has a thing that pushes the leaves." "My dad cuts grass, he can bring his machine."

I would like to request safety vests to keep our volunteers safe and visual. I would also like to ask for EGO String Trimmer and an 8-Inch Edger to help clear the sidewalks. The heavy-duty bags will aid in holding the trash collected and using the Garden Dump Cart with No-Flat Tires will make it easy to transport the trash without hurting our backs.

Since our students are eager to continue learning about trees, I plan on doing a lesson on growing vegetables with the Raised Fir Wood Garden Planter where all my students will observe, explore, investigate and make simple predictions about the way a garden grows. My students will keep journals to document the progress of the garden and to check if their predictions were correct.
