Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a bilingual speech-language pathologist working in a public school for students with disabilities. My students are working towards becoming independent communicators. Some students are verbal, and others require picture symbols and/or augmentative alternate communication (AAC) devices to express their wants and needs.
My Project
Having an iPad for my students will provide them with another platform to learn through technology. My students are visual learners. They benefit from a variety of adapted resources and visual materials to support their communication and instruction of new skills. There are many applications I can utilize to assist them with their communication development, learning new vocabulary and concepts, and social skills. Not only can I utilize the iPad with my students in-person, but I can also support my students with programs on an IPad during my teletherapy sessions, as well.
