My students need a puppet stage, a wooden puppet stand for storage, a multicultural set of kid puppets, and various animal and insect puppets that relate to our science topics.

The children in the community come to kindergarten severely lacking communication skills. Students living in high-need communities often come to kindergarten not having the skills to pose or answer questions. They have very little experience conversing with others. In addition, our community has students that are Limited English Proficient. My classroom lacks the resources to help the students develop these essential skills.
My classroom needs resources to help the children develop communication skills in a safe and fun way. My classroom needs a puppet theatre, a wooden stand to store puppets, multicultural kid puppets, and various animal and insect puppets that support our science topics. My students will benefit from these resources because they will have a chance to practice communicating. They will do it in a fun way, and they will want to do it. Also, this is a comfortable way for the students that are Limited English Proficient to practice speaking English. They are hidden behind the puppet theater, and they will feel very safe. The more the students practice speaking, the better they will become at speaking and communicating. These resources will benefit them in the long run because it will help them develop the skills necessary to perform well on standardized tests.

You will give the students that speak little English a chance to practice and develop their language in a way that is safe and comfortable for them.
