My Project
We are excited to begin the year with our new class! This year we have 6 wonderful students. Many students in the 6:1:1 setting use devices such as iPads for communication. These iPads loose power during the day thus our students lose their words. If given the proper technology our students will be able to communicate all of their wants and needs throughout the day.
Communication is one of the key skills our students will be working on this year.
It is also the first term in our acronym CARES for our PBIS program. PBIS is a positive behavior support system created to support our students to become functioning members of society. We are asking for a Karaoke Machine for our Karaoke Club on Fridays. Students school wide are rewarded for participating in PBIS and having good behaviors by being able to choose a club on Fridays. Karaoke club was a big hit last year! This year we hope to make it even more enjoyable for our students.
Sensory objects such as the tent and medicine ball will give our students opportunities to request and take a mental health break.
In addition to classroom activities we will also be doing job skills. One of our job skills is food shopping for families. Having a shopping cart will help us be able to buy and carry more items.
