This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a diverse group of students that happen to be low-income, English language learners in a Title I school in South Los Angeles. In my classroom there are several students with special needs who are mainstreaming that have a variation of ways that they learn best. The students that are in my classroom can benefit if lessons can be catered through the use of visuals and auditory presentation.

My students are eager to learn, share their thoughts and complete activities and assignments on a new topic every day.

Although, it is difficult for them to focus on their lessons and learning because of often full, noisy homes while most are stuck at home quarentining.Whether it is a lesson on math, science, English or art they are happy to share their newly acquired skills, and knowledge.

My Project

My students are having a hard time staying focused, hearing the lessons and other students speak during our online distance learning. Many of my students come from low-income households and some live with multiple families. Many students tell me all day that they have a hard time hearing me. It's no wonder because in the background you can hear children running, screaming, playing, loud TVs, music, and other family members going about their daily routines. This leaves my students with the hard task of trying to learn and stay focused despite having huge families home during the pandemic. Having a headphone set with a microphone would enable them to successfully focus on their online learning and be able to communicate with their classmates and teacher throughout the school day. These headsets would be crucial for their learning.
