This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students on my caseload are kind, energetic, and motivated to communicate with their teachers and peers. My students are working on increasing their functional communication skills. Some of my students use gestures to communicate their wants and needs. Visual pictures will help support their communication skills and decrease their level of frustration. Having a laminator would help ensure these AAC interactive communication books remain clean, durable, and intact for many years to come. Thank you for considering my project for my speech-language students!

My Project

I work in a fantastic Chicago Public School serving low-income students. Having a laminator will allow me to laminate Interactive AAC communication booklets. With these communication booklets being laminated, the communication books will remain more durable, clean, and long lasting for years to come. These laminated communication books will help my students learn to use the support of visual pictures in the book to communicate basic wants/needs to make comments, and requests such as: help, want, like, go, and see. These laminated functional communication books will be able to be used with my preschool students through kindergarten students.
