Common Core Special Needs Eager Readers

My students need three iPads to motivate them to become more independent learners. The iPads will be an aid to improve their reading and math skills.

My Students

Every morning we start our day asking ourselves "What is our goal for today?" My students reply with, "Improving my reading or math skills as well as my behavior." My students are eager to learn as they set goals for themselves each and every day.

My students come from extremely deprived backgrounds.

They have huge gaps in their reading and math skills. They are below grade level in reading and math. They struggle with academics as well as emotional issues. We are a small residential school with limited funding. Our library and technology programs have been cut and we have only one computer in our classroom.

My Project

The iPad will allow my students to work more independently and improve their reading and computation skills. We will be able to research and go to various websites to improve our skills academically. The iPad will keep them focused on their learning and will be readily available within the classroom. It will be a valuable tool that can be used by all each and everyday. It will keep them focused on their learning and improve their self esteem as they become more proficient in using technology as a tool to assist them with their learning.

The iPad will allow my students to achieve academic success and build their self esteem and confidence as independent learners.

This technology tool will prepare them as they get ready for high school and college in the future!
