My students need hands-on science equipment to help them learn about physics using magnets, circuit boards, centripetal force apparatus and other devices.

My Students
"The important thing in science is not so much to obtain new facts as to discover new ways of thinking about them"~William Bragg. This project will help make science exciting and fun as students explore new ideas and concepts.
I teach in a self-contained gifted 5th grade classroom.
My students come from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and with various abilities and disabilities. They are very supportive of each other in their social and academic interactions. Most of my students are visual and kinesthetic/tactile learners and will benefit greatly from these types of materials.
My Project
These tools will reinforce science concepts through exploration and investigation. Some of the concepts are electricity, Newton's Laws, heat transfer, and centripetal force. Students will use the tools in cooperative groups to help understand the science concepts and challenge each other with common core discussions. Centers will also be set up for students to move around the room to investigate science in realistic everyday uses. This will make science meaningful and exciting for the students and give them a better understanding of the universe.
These materials and experiments will supplement the science concepts that are being taught.
My goal is to have the students broaden their scope of the world around them. I plan to place the equipment in our school science lab for all teachers to share.
