My Students

Do you remember what it was like to have to sit in a desk all day and do worksheet after worksheet? Kindergarten students need hands-on materials instead of worksheets to help make connections for learning. Save the trees! Help us build our learning stations with materials instead of worksheets.

Most of my students are children of active duty military men and women serving our country.

This is the first school experience for may of the students. These students have moved many times in their young lives and experienced a separation from one or both parents at some point. Due to the population, the class will lose and gain several students throughout the year. My school works hard to meet the needs of the military child. We have added an additional Kindergarten class this year to better serve the students. This year we have experienced quite a blow to our budget which leaves the school with very few resources to purchase additional materials for the added Kindergarten classroom.

My Project

In the word work station, the students work on developing language skills specifically designed to support the mastery of the new Common Core State Standards in English Language Arts. The students will be able to participate in engaging activities that will hold their interest and support their different levels.

My classroom is a collection of materials I begged and borrowed to make the best out of a situation that many teachers are facing.

I have spent much of my own money and people have generously given used toys to help create a welcoming classroom environment. The language materials would provide the students with materials that are more geared towards academic achievement and successful completion of Kindergarten.
