My Project

My students are used to reading stories about people that don't look like them. They are mostly minorities that come from low-income households and the "classic" novels are filled with Caucasian families that don't have to worry about money or food problems. These novels will help me teach the California Common Core Standards in a way my students can understand and relate to.

My students want to learn and it's my job to make that easier for them!

These novels will help me do that. These novels discuss water scarcity and racial injustices through the lens of kids the same ages as my students. I will use GLAD strategies to ensure my EL students can follow along as well.
