My Students

Happy, healthy, and innovative is one of the few mottos the teachers and students at our school strive to achieve. Whether it be through engaging lessons, link crew, or wellness day, our school strives to help shape students who are overall happy emotionally and socially, practice healthy habits, and create innovate projects which allow them to communicate effectively, think critically, collaborate, and connect with each other and the world around them.

The school where I work as a teacher, and coach, is a comprehensive high school in Northern California which serves grades 9-10.

Our students and athletes live in an area where their motivation, eagerness to learn, and determination to do well is at the forefront of all of their actions. Students participate in endless extra-curricular activities, such as athletics, drama, choir, and community service, which helps to shape them into outstanding members of our community.

My Project

These books will help our students read more diverse and multicultural literature in our English classrooms. As a school, we are trying to diversify our curriculum, but it is difficult when all of our books are old and our approved reading list hasn't been updated in awhile. There hasn't been a whole lot of new curriculum introduced in the last five years, so we would like to add a more diverse curriculum which allows our students to see themselves reflected in the characters we analyze.

These books bring in cultures and voices from around the world, which will allow our students to gain empathy for others through different perspectives.

The technology I am asking for, will help me teach them from home. By using the laptop/iPad stands, I will be able to move around my desk easily, switching from device to device to allow for a more seamless transition between tabs and activities for students. The iPad keyboard will allow me to write/design lessons for my students with ease, as well as allow me to give them more feedback more frequently. And by using the bluetooth speaker, I will be able to play sound for my students that accompany my daily lessons.
