My Students

The students where I work love to read. There is such a strong reading culture at this school—it is truly amazing. The library is bustling every day before school, after school, and at lunch. Students come in on their own time to find books, read, play typing games, and hang out with their friends.

It is truly wonderful to work with middle school students who are so engaged with reading.

Students often ask for book recommendations from me and their peers. They are very avid readers, and each grade starts the year doing a unit in their English class called "The Reading Life." This unit is all about developing as a life-long reader. I see students putting these skills to work every day.

My Project

The library runs a school-wide comic book club on Mondays and Tuesdays. This is a small but mighty club with very dedicated participants. This project will help us order the books we need for the club to successfully run this year.

Comic books are popular and are a great way to get students involved in the library who otherwise are not involved.

Our comic book clubs are mellow but we need books! In order to successfully run this club, we need enough comic books to read one per week. This project will supply us with the necessary books for this club to continue.
