Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
According to Morrow & Weinstein, 1986; Neuman & Roskos, 1992 children need an attractive setting to read in. I have a variety of books available in my library, but In order to encourage lifelong readers, I need a Cozy Reading Corner. "Children are more likely to visit classroom libraries and actively participate in them when they are physically attractive." One of these features is variety of comfortable seating.
Carpeting, a variety of seating, and book displays help to create a comfy atmosphere for reading to encourage reading for pleasure, which will foster lifelong readers.
My students need a rug in order to be able to sit comfortably on the floor to read. We also need beanbag chairs in order to provide another option for students to read books in our library. Lastly, they need cushioned seating to allow them to sit, relax, and enjoy reading in a cozy environment. Another item to help students be relaxed when reading in our class is a large pillow to sit on. In order to foster an attractive reading corner we need a carpet, bean bag seats, and a bookshelf to display their books.
