My Students
My Kindergarten class is in Northeast Florida in a rapidly growing county.
My goal for the summer is to have them continue their love of reading, which we have worked so hard on during our year of remote learning.
As we end the school year, all 22 kindergarteners have grown and thrived in our distance learning class. Even though we are learning remotely, with the teacher in the classroom and the children safely at home, they have worked so hard to become a school family and learn as much as possible.
My Project
After a year of distance learning, I will finally welcome children back to the classroom for the 2021-22 school year. When they return, it's my dream to give them a comfortable, inviting place to sit while working. The new little ones will have had their pre k classes interrupted and very different than in years past. It is even more important to me to have their first year of school a developmentally appropriate place to learn.
When Kindergarten children are comfortable, they are more engaged, productive and spend more time on task.
Flexible seating options will invite the children to find a spot to sit and work, either on their own or with partners. Giving children flexibility and choices with where they sit leads to higher motivation and engagement, which they will have with these comfy ottomans that can be moved around the classroom.
