Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This upcoming school year, I’m stepping into a new adventure—teaching third grade after several years with Young Fives. I’m so excited to meet my students and create a classroom that supports both their learning and their growing independence.
One of my goals is to design a space where students feel comfortable, confident, and in control of how they learn.
That’s why I’m asking for your support to bring flexible seating options into our room.
During collaborative learning time, students will be working with partners and small groups—and having choices like floor cushions, stools, or low seating will help them focus better and work together more comfortably. During independent reading time, these seating options will let students find a cozy spot where they can truly enjoy getting lost in a good book.
Third graders are at an age where they crave movement and choice, but also need structure and support. Flexible seating gives them the freedom to take ownership of their learning environment, while still supporting focus, engagement, and classroom community.
