This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In the heart of Harlem, we are looking to increase reading stamina for our students. One way to enhance their experiences with reading is to provide a comfortable, calm, inviting place to enjoy books for different types of learners. The warm-colored rocking chairs and comfy cushions will allow students to independently read a text after receiving direct explicit reading instruction from their teachers.
Bridging the gap between learning to read and the love of reading is our ultimate goal: CREATING RETURNING READERS.
Improving reading success starts with students' attitudes about reading. This project will support a positive approach to piquing the interest of reading for our 1st graders.
All students have the right to read! Our first grade Harlem students just need a memorable library to do it in.
