Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second grade teacher at Chicago International Charter School - Bucktown Campus. I am looking forward to a great 2007-2008 school year and am using the summer to plan and set goals for the upcoming year.
One of my major goals this year is to create an excitement for reading in my classroom. I teach reading and writing to a group of children who are far below grade level. I would like to encourage a love for reading in my classroom by creating a "comfy cozy reading corner."
I will use the cushions and pillows to create a section of my classroom that is designated for reading. The comfy cozy reading corner will spark excitement for my young learners about reading, and will give them a place of their own to simply enjoy their favorite books.
I have the books, now I just need a comfortable, special place for my students to read!
