I teach first grade at a charter school in Washington DC. In the coming school year I will have 20 adorable six year olds.
Did you know that if a child's classroom has a library corner, that child will read 50% more books than if it did not (according to the Children's Literacy Initiative)?
Over my first year of teaching, I have been purchasing and receiving donations to create this library. I finally feel like I am on my way to having a great selection of books for my students. There weren't ANY books in my room the first day I walked in! Now that I have or am getting the books, I would like to make the library corner in my room comfy and cozy so that the students want to visit it!
You can help my students learn to love books and make reading time special for them by helping me to furnish the library with comfy bean bag chairs, a small couch, a beautiful canopy, and small table for a cozy reading lamp. My students and I thank you in advance for your generosity.
