My Students

As a teacher in a special education self-contained classroom in a low-income school district, my students are faced with challenges inside and outside of the classroom. Despite the many challenges that my students are facing, I am looking to provide them with a fun, interactive, and meaningful learning environment.

My students have a multitude of needs including physical, cognitive, medical, fine motor, sensory, and communication.

They love learning through a multitude of different means such as sensory activities. They learn best though creative and sensory activities.

My Project

The classroom that I am in is getting all the old carpet removed. We are now in need of a new carpet for circle time. We use the carpet area in the classroom on a daily basis. The carpet provides a comfortable area for the studenrs to sit during circle time.

The carpet gives them a sense of place.

The second carpet will be used in the dramatic play area. It gives the students a homely feeling so that they feel at home in the classroom. The color blue and gray are important because they are both calming colors.
