My Project
I teach at a small middle school in a small school district. The district I teach in only has one elementary school, one middle school, and one high school. The majority of the students live in poverty or are homeless. What I mean by homeless is that the parent(s) and the children are living with other relatives, because they do not have a home of their own. The middle school I teach at is a Title I school, which means that we receive funds from the government to get some of the resources that we need. In addition, the students all receive free lunch and breakfast every day.
My goal every day is to provide my students with the tools and resources they need so that they can be successful scholars every day.
Over the few years, I have worked hard to rebuild my classroom library for my 8th grade students. Reading is so important in a child's life, and many of my students have no interest in reading. My classroom library now has so many different books that my students are interested in and I want them to enjoy those books while they are in my classroom. Who wouldn't love a nice, cozy space to read some awesome books while at school? These soft, comfy ottoman chairs would give my students a comfortable place to sit in the room while they read their books. In addition, the pillow covers would add some brightness and decor to the reading corner in the classroom. I want to build a fun place for students can go and relax while reading a book. In addition, the tennis balls would help students easiy slide their desks together in order to read books together in the classroom if the reading corner is full.
