Comfy Corners

When it's time to read, isn't it nice to have a comfortable place to sit so you can really enjoy your book?

My second grade students really enjoy reading.

It's nice to be able to offer them a "comfy corner" to read their books. It's a great way to encourage my reluctant readers to really enjoy a good book of their choosing in a comfortable atmosphere. Since my students' reading level vary from below grade level to several years above, everyone benefits from this comfy corner!

My Project

At the moment, I have two brightly colored small rugs that have two bean bag chairs on them. My students love this corner! However, having 6 or more children trying to share bean bags, with over 30 students in both my reading class and my homeroom, is not very comfortable! I usually have three to a chair, with some sitting on the rugs leaning up against the chairs. Having more chairs available to my students would be absolutely wonderful! We would like to have three more bean bag chairs for the students to relax in and share while they are silent reading for pleasure as well as for their reading assignments!

A small reading corner makes such a big impact in our classroom! However, I have many disappointed students who cannot "fit" into this area due to our limited space and chairs. Your donation to this project will bring us one step closer to offering such a small thing that makes a BIG difference with my students' reading!
