This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Bean bags have always been a safe haven for my students with autism on the alternate curriculum. There are moments where they need time to "cool down" or days when they did not sleep at night and need to take a little nap. The bean bags can also serve as a place for students to take a short break when needed.

My goal for this project is that the bean bags add to the overall ambience of the classroom and help serve the needs of the students with autism.

I have sensory toys but I recently transferred to a new school and it has no bean bags. I have always used bean bags as a space for students to relax or cool down. It is also a reward for some students that need to work on the reward system.

My students are absolutely amazing and special. They are in an alternate curriculum class most of the day and we have so much fun dancing together and learning. They love to know what is on their schedule and they like to know they can go to a "safe space" when needed.
