My students are energetic six and seven-year-olds whose brains are like sponges! They are enthusiastic and excited to learn new things! The majority of my students are visual, hands-on learners. I'm also excited that my first-grade classroom pairs with our first-grade hearing impaired students for inclusion opportunities.
School is a safe and happy place for my students where they remind me if I skip giving them a morning hug or high five!
Each day they come into the classroom excited about the day, and spend time exploring and learning together! I always have high expectations that each of my students will grow and learn. For many of my students, being at school is the best part of their day! I truly believe in each one of them and am determined to give them the help they need to be successful.
My Project
Students (and many adults) do not like to sit at a desk for long periods of time.
While I know we may have to social distance, these seating options will allow them to choose where and how they will be most comfortable to do their best learning each day!
If they are more comfortable, they will be more likely to stay in their area. They can also be used for many years to come once social distancing is not a requirement!
I already have bouncy bands, seat cushions, and wobble stools as choices.
Students will be able to use the big cushions and the comfy seat in learning centers, at our carpet space, anywhere they want! Students will be able to use them to sit, or kneel, on while working with a partner or on independent work.
These materials allow children to not only be comfortable while learning, but to be able to choose the tools they need to help them be successful! Thanks so much for supporting our little learners in these uncertain times!
