My Project
Hello! I teach 3rd and 4th grade reading, and my goal is to inspire young readers to find a love of literature. Our students love to explore other worlds through their love of reading. They enjoy books about mystical characters, soccer, talking circus animals, historical events, and much more!
What has been a challenge these past few years is building our classroom library and making our room a cozy and organized place to sit and read.
We have many books now that have been donated to our classroom library and students are able to easily find books that interest them! What's left is replacing the hand-me-down classroom rug that was used for many years and became incredibly dirty. Not the most ideal place to read a book you love!
Also within the past year, we have gotten a new reading curriculum, which has been amazing, but it has presented another challenge...Where do we store all of the materials? That's where this project comes in! We tried putting their workbooks and reading bags into bins on the floor in front of each group, and it worked really well at first. Students were able to easily and quickly access their materials, but it presented a tripping hazard. With shelves that can hold the student's workbooks, we can place their materials in the bin, get them off of the floor, and run our classroom that much smoother... and safer!
By donating to our project, you can help our students continue to enjoy reading to it's fullest extent. Students will have a calming nook to read, supplied with floor pillows to sit on and a comfortable rug, and a nicely organized reading supplies. Our room will be a wondrous place to escape the outer world and immerse yourself in the world of reading!
