This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My students are in Prekindergarten and are curious and playful. They’re always ready to explore something new and love hands-on materials in the classroom. This year, we need more comfy furniture for our library corner. I’m requesting two floor comfy seats and one comfy couch, and a comfy chair to provide a welcoming, relaxing, and home-like environment so I can encourage and foster the love of reading. Many of my students English is their second language therefore need these various seating where they can comfortably sit to read books, engage in book talks, and act out stories read with puppets during their center time. This will build their vocabulary, strengthen their comprehension, and will develop their pre-reading skills throughout the year. It will foster a love of reading and develop a strong literacy foundation.
