I teach 30 low-income five-year-old kindergarten students at a public school in an urban school district. All of the students who attend my school receive free breakfast and lunch on a daily basis. Many of the students I work with are exposed to extreme amounts of violence, experience traumatic events, and have families who are unable to support them financially. My students lack the materials they need to be successful in the classroom, especially with our school district's tight budget.
Though a majority of students come to school without basic supplies and materials, they know that they are supported and cared for days when they enter my classroom.
I strive to make learning engaging and meaningful to foster lifelong learners.
My students are a constant reminder of my passion for teaching young children. I spend a large amount of time planning instruction to meet each student's individual needs while creating a fun and enjoyable learning experience.
My students appreciate every donation our classroom receives, and everything that comes into our classroom is utilized to its fullest potential. The donations we receive make a tremendous, positive impact on their academic achievement. Your support of children's education ensures their future success.
My Project
We are from southeast Wisconsin where it gets extremely cold during our winter months. My kindergarten students need warm weather gear to cope with the freezing cold right as they travel to and from school and for recess.
Many of my students do not have basic warm weather items they need for the cold winter weather we have in Wisconsin.
Please help me get the basic needs of my students met! Help me purchase hats, mittens, scarves, underwear, and warm socks for my kinder students so they can enjoy recess with their peers and be warm traveling to and from school. Your support is greatly appreciated!
