My Students
My classroom pushes students to be the best that they can be. I promote advanced and creative thinking through exploration and choice to students prepared for college and careers. In order to accomplish these goals students need to be readers, and I engage them by making them comfortable.
My students are mostly juniors and seniors.
We live in a high poverty area where a large portion of our student body K-12 is on free or reduced lunch. By the time students reach me, many of them have jobs or are caring for younger siblings. They are information hungry.
My Project
Our classroom community will use these items to create a reading nook in the classroom. This will be a place where students can read independently during sustained silent reading in their classes. Also students will be able to use this space for small group work.
As our new student center/media center is currently under construction, I would like to provide a space for my students in my classroom.
They can work together or read by themselves in this space.
