Hello! I am almost finished with my first year as an elementary school counselor! It's the best job I've ever had. My school community is very supportive and full of kind and thoughtful kids.
Next year, I will be moving into a full-size classroom space for my counseling office, and I want to make it super cozy with lots of engaging resources, such as art supplies, coping tools, and comfortable seating.
My goal is to create a Social-Emotional Learning Center so students can come to visit when they need support. I provide many counseling services, including one-on-one counseling, Lunch Bunch groups, and daily classroom push-in lessons. When I have this space, I plan to have it be very open, free of desks and clutter. During my groups, students can sit on either the cushions or yoga mats in a circle, allowing for more restorative connection and conversation. If they need individual support, they can come and find a tool that will help them calm down and sit down for a chat with me.
As a new school counselor, I want to make the most of this space, so my students feel extra supported and seen as they navigate new challenges. I appreciate any support in helping this vision come to life!
