Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a truly diverse population in a truly integrated school where just over half are low-income and just under half are middle-income. Students who are Native American, African American, Latino, Asian American, and European American make up our population, as well as students who were born abroad or with parents who are immigrants from such diverse homelands as Japan, China, Laos, Nepal, India, Yemen, Palestine, Egypt, Turkey, Germany, Spain, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Jamaica, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.

Despite the differences between students and cultures, they come together under the values of courage, compassion, curiosity, integrity, respect, and responsibility to push for the self-success and community success with the motto "Leave no dragon behind!"

My Project

The fans will make hot days bearable for students, given that we cannot open windows due to wasps/hornets nesting near the windows. Curtains will make slide show projections clearer for all students. The suction cup design will ensure that students and I can easily install them.

The iPad and case will allow students to manage our classroom library via an online library app that scans barcodes of literature to manage our inventory and loaning system.

The backpack will replace the broken one, so that I can lug all my technology and teaching materials across the campus to save time and maximize learning as I go to and from classes and to student government and after-school capoeira coaching.
