My 3rd graders are a unique and diverse group of students in a Title I school. Many receive free and reduced-price lunch. They are energetic and enthusiastic about learning. They are inquisitive and always searching for new ideas. Every day brings new joy and excitement as we collaborate and grow with each other.
As their teacher, it is my goal to motivate students to be creative, 21st Century learners.
In our classroom, we work hard to build a classroom community where we work together to solve problems and respect each other's thoughts and opinions. We take time to show empathy and learn from each other.
My Project
Providing more flexible seating in my classroom will allow students to collaborate with their peers in a comfortable working environment. Students will be able to choose a seat in the room to enhance their learning and meet their own personal needs.
More flexible seating options will increase student engagement, motivation, and will promote choice and collaboration in a comfortable learning environment.
Each 3rd grade student is a unique individual with different learning styles. Flexible seating is so important in supporting each individual student's learning style. Whether it is standing at a high table or sitting on a stool, students will be more engaged and take ownership of their own learning.
By adding an additional seating option to my classroom; every child will be successful because it reaches each child's individual needs. Students will be able to move around the room to collaborate with peers, have a choice in their own learning, and increase their engagement and motivation in our daily learning.
