My Students
I'm truly thrilled to be starting my 15th year of teaching in a middle school setting. My students come to our school from all over the city. They are from all different social and economic backgrounds but with equal desire to learn.
Transitioning from elementary school to middle school is a right of passage for students.
They leave the comfort of their elementary classrooms where one teacher and one room is their home away from home. Now they have lockers instead of cubbies. Instead of 1 main classroom, they have 8 periods in 8 different rooms.
My Project
I am asking for a carpet for my classroom because it is essential in every learner's classroom. Although, there will be times the students will be working at their desks, there will be times when students can move and change settings for another activity such as group work, projects and read alouds.
Even middle school students need a rug to get comfortable on.
If students feel welcomed and have a clean and new rug, they will be ready to learn. My classroom is very interactive and this rug will help to bring our new room together. A map on our floor will make a great reference during lessons.
