Making math engaging and meaningful is a goal of every lesson and activity. Providing a comfortable area that students can create for themselves allows them to help facilitate their own learning, making the work meaningful and engaging. Where do you feel most comfortable? Most people would say they feel comfortable when they are on their own couch in their own home. It is usually a time when people can think clearly because they feel happy at home in an area that they created themselves.
When students are in math class each day, my classroom is their home.
Sometimes the students are looking for a comfortable place to complete their calculations. The item we are requesting is a convertible, folding couch that can be manipulated into countless positions. Students will be able to create their own areas that suit individual needs. Not only will the addition of these cushions benefit the many special education students in my classes, but they will serve as a creative outlet for ALL students. Having an area for students to comfortably work really has endless benefits. By donating to our project, you are giving students a say in their learning environment and empowering students.
